On 22 July 2024, we were officially recognised as a Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and registered under number 34 in the national register, in accordance with Royal Decree 884/2022.
This recognition marked a milestone in our history and strengthened our commitment to innovation and to connecting research with the productive sector, particularly in the furniture and wood industries.
As a KTO, we took on key functions: protecting R&D&I results through intellectual property rights, facilitating their commercialisation, promoting collaborative research projects between public and private organisations, providing R&D&I services, and disseminating the knowledge generated.
This new stage represented the natural evolution of our Research Results Transfer Office (OTRI), which we launched in April 2006. Through this development, we strengthened our capacity to enhance the sector’s competitiveness and bring scientific advances closer to society.
Recognition as a KTO enabled us to open up new avenues for collaboration and consolidate our position as a key player in knowledge transfer, with a direct impact on industry, the economy and society.
As our director, José Francisco Puche, noted, this phase strengthened our work in protecting results, promoting applied research and connecting science and business in Yecla and the Region of Murcia.
